Swindon today

Swindon is currently the largest town in the county of Wiltshire with its population is now approaching 200,000. Most of the town's residents live on the many modern housing estates most of which have been developed in the last 15 years. Residents are very proud of their town in particular the beautiful Old Town, which is packed with character and steeped in history.

Swindon has an impressively low crime rate and there is a real sense of community throughout the town. This is clearly demonstrated through the many festivals and events that the residents organise and take part in every year.

The following festivals are held every year in Swindon:

  • Old Town Festival (Jazz festival)
  • Swindon Summer Festival
  • Forest Festival
  • World Music Festival
  • Literature Festival
  • The Swindon Mela
  • The Film Festival
