The New Swindon Company and Swindon Borough Council is giving local people the chance to view and comment on exciting new plans for the redevelopment of Wharf Green, the area outside House of Fraser. The exhibition is being held on the first floor of the Brunel Centre this Friday and Saturday 9-10 February from 10am to 4:30pm.
Including plans for a big screen television, climbing wall, water features and sympathetic landscaping, the Wharf Green designs will breathe new life into this area and provide the people of Swindon with public space of which they can be proud.
The exhibition itself will also feature a six metre high climbing wall, providing a first-hand opportunity to experience the type of interactive facilities that the Wharf Green redevelopment could deliver.
Peter James, Chief Executive of The New Swindon Company, comments, "Our goal is to create a town that has life and energy. Good quality public areas are key elements in achieving this vision. We hope that by getting local people involved at the Wharf Green design stage, we will provide an area that truly represents what people in Swindon want and need."
Leader of the Council, Councillor Roderick Bluh commented, "This is the first major public realm proposal, and it shows that the project to completely transform the centre of Swindon is gathering pace. It will set the tone for the brand new look we are trying to achieve, and Im delighted that we are now at the stage where we can ask the public for their views."
Wharf Green is being redeveloped in partnership with Swindon Borough Council and funded by the Governments Growth Points Fund, set up to support regeneration of key towns and cities.
