- New Hotel Development for Swindon
News
Developers McAleer and Rushe are delighted to announce that contracts have been exchanged to acquire a prime site in the centre of Swindon which will be developed as a major new hotel for Jurys Inn, part of the privately owned Jurys Doyle Hotel group.
Prominently situated on the corner of Fleming Way and Princes Street, the hotel will form a prestige new gateway building being located immediately adjacent to The Exchange Site, a major redevelopment proposed by The New Swindon Company for which the developer will be announced in January 07.
The new multi storey hotel development will offer up to 200 bedrooms, an upmarket restaurant and bar together with state of the art conferencing facilities. Jurys Doyle have been actively rolling out a number of the Jurys Inn brand hotels throughout the UK in recent years and are delighted to have secured a site in the centre of Swindon which they see as having great potential.
This announcement comes just a few weeks after Swindon was successful in its bid for part of the Governments Growth Point Fund and received over £3 million to help fund the growth of the town. The confidence the Government has shown in Swindon through the initial setting up of The New Swindon Company and now having Growth Points Status is starting to be matched by the private sector.
Chris Hitchings, Director of Development at The New Swindon Company, is thrilled with the announcement, saying Jurys decision to invest in Swindon is a great vote of confidence for the town centre and the new hotel will prove highly complimentary to the mixed use commercial site planned for the Exchange Site.
Chartered Surveyors HLL Humberts Leisure acted for McAleer and Rushe in the purchase of the site.
