- Companies eager to snap up Swindon development
News
The launch of a major development opportunity in Swindon has proved extremely popular with local, national and global companies.
The Exchange, which is one of seven project areas set out by The New Swindon Company, and the first to be put out to the market, has received over 180 enquiries from regeneration specialists and property developers. These include global companies and consortiums as well as UK companies with West Country bases.
The Exchange covers 17.54 acres and represents a £300 million redevelopment opportunity. It is one of the largest town centre redevelopments ever undertaken in the South West and will deliver high-quality offices, new homes, shops, bars and restaurants.
Chris Hitchings, Development Director at the New Swindon Company, said: "I am thrilled with the response. We knew that interest would be high following the response received when seeking a development partner for the Granville Street project, but 180 enquiries exceeded our expectations.
It proves that Swindon is a town that can attract new investment, which will lead to increased prosperity, new business, and improved retail and leisure facilities, for everyone who lives and works here."
The New Swindon Company is working alongside national regeneration agency English Partnerships, South West Regional Development Agency and Swindon Borough Council.
